Kidney Stones & Salt? |
I have been suffering with kidney stones for about 5 years now. I have had around 20 so far. I went to the doctor yesterday and I found 10 more in both kidneys. The problem I am having is that in addition to kidney stones I am suffering from a mystery fainting disorder related to my heart and brain. I faint frequently and I am currently on steroids and beta blockers to help get this under control. I was told to eat as much salt as possible... but then told to stay away from salt by my nephrologist. I feel like I have to pick: Kidney stones or fainting. Any advice? I am currently on the waiting list for Mayo. Yes! POTS was the diagnosis that I was given. There is some scrutiny amongst my doctors to whether this is a real disease or not, so they sent my case to Mayo. I'm currently waiting to hear what they have to say about it. It's a 3-6 month waiting list. The salt for the fainting is to help you maintain your blood pressure. You'r eon a beta blocker to regulate your heart rate right? That is also used to lower blood pressure. Mayo is the best place to go ... wait and it will be worth it, because you'll get the most up to date treatments available. I have heard if your body uses the calcium already in your muscles, bones and blood to make your muscles work (it is a part of the chemical energy thing)... then if it uses that calcium it leaves little crystals behind in your blood that becomes kidney stones. |
