UTI and kidney infections?

I am constantly sick with urinary tract infections that i let go too far and turn into kidney infections.. which make me feel like i'm dying! i've had two kidney infections. and recently i passed a kidney stone for the first time. I think i'm getting the UTI's from sex because they started after i moved in with my boyfriend. Just wondering if there is anything i can do to make my UTI's go away cuz i had to cancel my insurance (too expensive) and can't afford any more doctor bills!

Yes, sex can, and often is the culprit behind women's UTI's.
Since you are having such cronic problems, I would seriously suggest that before sexual contact, you both wash hands and genital areas. Empty your bladder before sex, but especially AFTER sex. This helps to flush out any bacteria forced up into the urethra by the penis durin sex. #2 Drink LOTS of water during the day. The more often you drain the bladder, the less chance bacteria has to grow there. Avoid colas, coffee, caffinated beverages, as they only worsen the problem. #3 Cranberry juice is very acidic and causes the wall of the bladder to be very slick so it is more difficult for the bacteria to stick. Be wary of "cranberry juice cocktails" that have other fruits in them. There is very little cranberry in those, and they are full of sugar, another great host to bacteria and cause for infections. There are cranberry pills that can be bought over the counter as well. Look for them in the women's feminine hygiene section. Drinking plenty of water will also help avoid kidney stones. Most people run around dehydrated and don't even know it. I hate to hear you no longer have insurance. It can be quite difficult to break the UtI cycle. Another possible help to you would be to take an antibiotic after intercourse. Your Dr. would of course have to prescribe this, but you can get cheap antibiotics (Penicillin, Sulfa) for $4 generic at Walmart or many other stores. I know you won't want to hear this, but you may need to take a break from sex to get this cleared up. But the pain is awful. (Been there, done that!) There is also an OTC drug called AZO which helps with the pain, but DOES NOT help clear up infection. It will be worth whatever you have to do to get healed up. Good luck!

cranberry juice is good for uti's, but if you are getting them too foten you need to see a doc.

Make sure you wash carefully after sex and consume yogurt and cranberry juice!

Just a couple of things you can do but if they persist you should see a doctor

Wash after sex and always urinate after sexual contact-even if there is no penetration.Drink more water, avoid caffeine, and alcohol.Alcohol is a major contributing factor to UTI's.

I used to have a lot of those until I saw a urologist who put me on a nightly dose of Macrodantin. It was just one pill at bedtime and it acts as a bladder anticeptic. This was several years ago, though, so maybe there's something newer out there for you to try.

They have OTC stuff at the pharmacies. AZO I believe one of them is called. If you can get a course of Anbx from a doctor it would be best. When you have sex, immediately afterwords go to the bathroom and urinate. The motions of sex promote bacteria traveling to your urethra which is a cause of utis. So if you empty your bladder after, you force bacteria out. Make sure when you use the bathroom, you wipe from front to back, otherwise you are introducing bacteria to your front area, Huge cause of UTIs. Drink lots of cranberry juice and water. Good luck.

one of the best and simplest things you can do is go to the drug store and buy a bottle of zinc capsules.. zinc is very helpfull in treating curing and preventing uti.. cost you about five bucks or less.. read up on zinc and its properties.. I think you will be amazed at how good it is.. also niacin is vitamin b3 look up its benefits.. and don't forget to get some b6 vitamins.. you want to get the gel caps because they will desolve in your stomach and absorb through the stomach wall.. pills will only give you about 5 percent absorbsion through your intestines.. liquid or gel caps are always the best.. as for zinc.. I am not sure if they are available in gel form.. if not then take at least three at once and then take one or two a day for the next several days.. I think that you will find they are wonderful.. also give them to your boyfriend.. it is possible he is passing something on to you.. good luck

First off, it helps to pee right after sex. Urine flushes bacteria out of your system. Also, you might be a little more careful in bed: if his penis gets too close to your rectum during sex, that bacteria can get spread to your urinary tract really, really easily.

Think about your diet: drink lots of liquids, but stay away from caffeine and carbonated drinks. You probably already know about the magical powers of cranberry juice. If you're sick of it, you might look for supplements. I think there's one called CranAid. And, try herbal supplements or tea containing uva ursi, chamomile, juniper berries, horsetail, and goldenseal. I buy a specific herbal tea for urinary tract health. Any health food store should have a good selection and some good advice.

And when you have to go, go! Holding it is bad, bad, bad for your system.

The whole kidney infection thing can be serious. Really serious. So don't fool around here. Be careful.

Honey, you need drink a cranberry for your urinary tract infection. It's does help you to rid the infection. I understand, you can't afford pay your health insurance. If I were you, goes see your doctor for your kidney infection. You'll need exam your kidney infection. Doctor will give you the medicine for your kidney infection.

UTI is very common for people who have kidney stones, kidney stone/s blocks the urinary track therefore making it hard and painful for you to urinate, this jagged razor sharp stone scrapes the lining of your urinary track, and when urine passes through the urinary track it causes infection, it is best that you see a doctor to prevent your infection from being a UTI to a Gonorrhoea. I had my share of UTI and gonorrhoea last year. I too have kidney stones. My doctor gave me antibiotics (Norfloxacin) and rowatinex to help me melt those nasty painful kidney stones.

cranberry juice is the best way if you don't like the taste they make cranberry pills now also that you can find with all the other dietary supplements. good luck

good luck and if you find out how to prevent them, you will make a zillion!

The only way to make them go away with with an antibiotic. Some are more prone to getting them (my doctor told me that). Cranberry juice does NOTHING to prevent these!!!

I was on a long term / low level dose of "Macrobid." This is a common med. Be careful if you get this treatment. I now have a chronic cough AND get UTIs!

Yes, sex can cause our UTIs.
1. Pee directly after and have a glass of water afterwards.
2. Take a daily cranberry supplement like Nature's Secret, Ultimate Urinary Cleanse With Cranberry. Take it every day, not just when you have an infection. When you have sex or feel an infection coming on, take extra.
3. Take D-mannose before and after sex which weighs down the bacteria and makes it easier for your body to flush out.
4. Take a daily probiotic to strengthen your immune system. Biobeads or gr8dolpholis are shelf stable and work well.
5. Eat plain yogurt or drink kefir every day.

Check out iherb online for the best prices and lots of info.

Once you have a UTI, a small amount of bacteria hides in the bladder folds where medicine can't get to it. And then sex, new bacteria, a weakened immune system, stress...causes the bacteria in the folds to multiply. That's why there are so many repeat UTIs. Scientists are studying an herb that smooths out the bladder lining so all the bad bacteria can be flushed away.

Good luck, I hope some of this helps
