What causes kidney infections?

Are there things that we do that cause kidney infections? I know drinking soda can cause them, but I was wondering what else. Like holding your pee in for while or not completely emptying you bladder.

Also what about unteated ones, what causing them to get worse and how long does it take before it gets to bad.

Kidney infections are generally caused by bladder infections that are not properly treated. I am not aware of soda causing kidney infections. It is hard to say how long it takes before it gets very serious. It depends upon a lot of factors. But if you think you have a kidney infection, the best thing to do is to see a doctor right away for proper treatment. The complications can be quite serious.

drinking a lot of soda is the main one I think holding your pee will give you a bladder infection but not a kidney infection. the longer you go without treating it the worse it can get treat a kidney infection asap
