My wife had a hysterectomy 16 years ago. She now often get bladder & kidney infections. Is it related ?

Any advice would be appreciated regarding these infections that keeps re-occuring

Dr William Crook lists hysterectomy as one of the leading causes of yeast overgrowth in women, yeast lowers the immune system which could be causing the frequent bladder and kidney problems.Concentrated cranberry extract in pill form is very good at helping to fight urinary tract infections, you might also want to check out some alternative minded websites such as http://www.curezone.com Or look for a holistic minded doctor.

I don't know about the connection but cranberry juice is great for keeping infections of the bladder etc away.

First of all, your wife should be consulting a qualified doctor. It may be that one infection never really goes away even though it may appear to have been cleared until it rears it's ugly head again. She should be checked after completing the medication for this to make sure it is clear. Next, to keep these infections at bay, she should drink a glass of cranberry juice daily and eat yoghurt that has "active" cultures in it. Finally, she can buy over the counter "acidophilus" tablets that also make sure that she has the "good bacteria" in her that keep away the bad ones.
Word to the wise: if your wife is on birth control pills, she will definitely need to consult with a doctor before taking anything since some things will render them ineffective.
