Will multiple kidney infections lead to dialysis?

i keep getting uti's the one i have now is excruciating. does anyone know if these can lead to renal failure or dialysis?
Scared in nc

If your UTI moves up into the ureter and then into the renal tract, then yes, it may cause damage. This can be permanent or temporary while the kidneys heal. Most important is that you see your nurse practitioner or doctor about your UTIs. You will need antibiotics, and they can run tests as needed to see if there are factors causing you to get them so often. Don't drink sodas, cut down on fruit juice, but do drink cranberry juice (unfiltered from a health food store like trader joe's is best), because cranberries make the urine more acidic, which helps prevent bacterial growth that can lead to UTIs. Also, cranberry is good for the filtration done by the kidneys...it helps keep them healthy. Also, always drink plenty of water. If you are sexually active, urinate within 30 minutes of intercourse, and when you feel the need to go...do so..Don't Hold It! But please, please, please...get these symptoms checked out and treated!
