Kidney Infection Possible without a prior UTI?

I have pain in my left side lower back that feels alot like a kidney infection. However, it is to my knowledge that kidney infections are often a result of a urinary tract infection. However, I have had no prior UTI. So, my question is, is it possible to get a kidney infection without the prior presence of a UTI?

not likely. did you actually have a urine test done? that's the only way to say no for sure. could also be a bad muscle strain (sounds weird, i know, but once i though i had a kidney infection and it was a really bad strain).

have you been tested for uti's???
it is possible but not normal to get a kidney infection without a uti.
go get it tested asap!
can you still go toilet??? most people i know with kidney infections find it hard to go toilet or their urine is a diff colour and aroma........
best bet is to go to a docs
