Kidney failure in dogs?

does anyone know the signs of kidney failure? I am taking my 15 yr old akita to the vet on Thursday. He has been drinking alot, peeing alot, and hunched over.He is not crying or whining at all, but I think it is kidney failure. If it is does anyone know what can be done or should I just let him go?

I hate to bear bad news, but those are signs of kidney failure. Drinking a lot, peeing a lot (especially uncontrolled), and elevated kidney values (proteins and such in the urine) are what my dog had. He responded to an IV (I forget what meds he had). We had to decide whether to put him down or not, because eventually his kidneys were going to shut down. We decided to put him down since he was old, and hated being stuck in the back everyday for an IV. And this is the dog that had a brain tumor a few years earlier! We got him the surgery, chemo and radiation, and he lived for two more years. Don't give up, there is hope!

Sound like he being drinking antifreeze. Has any neighbors change there antifreeze this winter. This is the season most people poison dog with antifreeze. Tell your neighbors not to dump antifreeze on the ground it attrack animals to it. They drink it get high then die. Some people drink antifreeze to get high as well. If he doesnt get better soon take him to Michael Vick. He know what to do.

Could be a simple urinary tract infection treatable by antibiotics...
