Does anybody have any information about kidney failure? |
My grandmother has alsheimer's disease and has lost the majority of her capabilities to do everyday tasks. She has a hard time communicating and even then she forgets words and names of things. We were told that she is now in kidney failure and her stomach is very swollen. They're trying to keep her comfortable, but I don't know if she's in pain or if it will get better of if this is it. Doctors are nowhere to be found and nurses won't give our family any information. Can anyone help? Get her to do spome cleansing. It will help her kidney, and her alzheimer's I can't say Iknow anything about kidney failure, but I have found website such as webmd.com and drkoop.com to be very helpful places for general medicalinformation. Also, the National Kidney Foundation has a good website - www.kidney.org. This is a hard one to answer as I lost my wife to renal failure. Now to have alzheimer's disease as well...my heart goes out to you and your family. I've included a few links for you to look at. Perhaps they can at least enlighten you and perhaps, given help from family and friends you can get some support. If your grandmother loses her kidney function, she can be placed on Dialysis which will basically take the place of her kidneys and filter her blood. Usually this is done about 3 times a week. If she does not regain her kidney function, she may have to continue on this. Treatments can last a few hours. The Kidney Foundation has wonder information if you need more. God Bless, your family is in my prayers. Man O Man- That doesnt sound like kidney failure to me but I am not a doctor. I have kidney failure and i feel ok, sometimes a person has alot of water retention that they need to get rid of and if that is what is wrong then she needs to go on dialysis and get a transplant. Kidney failure will not get better, but a transplant will help. Try going to a renal doctor and see what he says. Its not right that no one is telling you anything or helping you, you also might want to talk to a lawyer about that. my Grammy had the same every one at the hospital including doctors and nurses said she was not in pain one because of the medication and the other the alsheimer's may be it is the best answer that we need to hear when a love one is in pain good luck |
