some1 i know overdosed on crack and heroin and alcohol after bein clean 2 years, should this cause kidney failure?

he od on crack and heroin, was found unconscious and blue when ambulance arrived. took a few hours to get stable. should this cause kidney failure. they said if he leaves without treatment they wil fail.
