Polycystic Kidney Disease & Ovarian Syndrome?

I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (treated so far unsuccessfully for a year and half with metformin) and this last month have developed very bad kidney pain. In the beginning I thought it was just kidney stones, I've had them before. But the pain doesn't move downwards the way a kidney stone does.

Anyone familiar with any relation between PCOS and Polycystic kidney disease?

And just how serious is polycystic kidney disease?

It very well could be just a kidney infection they hurt right under or below the ribs.

Signs and symptoms of polycystic kidney disease may include:
High blood pressure
Back or side pain related to enlarged kidneys
Abdominal pain
Increase in the size of your abdomen
Blood in your urine
Kidney stones
Kidney failure
Kidney infections
Headache
