Kidney disease or something else? Please help!?

My boyfriend has blood and protein in his urine. His urine if very foamy...almost looks like someone filled the toilet with dish soap and then flushed. He has always drunk a lot of water and was pretty healthy.

This past year he was having flank pains and feeling sick overall. He went to the doctor who told him that he has the blood and protein in his urine. They did bloodwork and the creatnine levels came back normal. His glucose also came back normal, although later on they said he might be diabetic. The doctors weren't sure. They hooked him up to a glucometer that tested his sugar every 2 hours or something. We never got those results from the doctor, nor results from a testicular ultrasound, nor did we get results from a kidney stone that he passed in November, despite our constant calling. He is going to see a new doctor on Monday.
Today he woke up with a fever, feeling achy, and peeing very dark urine.

I'm just frustrated and don't know what's going on. Help!

Greydoc: He has had an ultrasound done, and also had the IVP done. The urologist thought that he may have IGA nephropathy but could not be sure, and didn't want to do a kidney biopsy. Any thoughts on why they wouldn't want to do the biopsy?

Your friend needs a thorough urological work-up including an ultrasound, possibly an excretory urogram (IVP), and maybe even a needle biopsy of the kidney. The normal creatinine level is good. Additional blood tests would be helpful.

im not a M.D, but working on it and from personal experience I would say this could be leukemia which is a type of blood cancer. There are 29 different conditions that could cause his symtoms. you can try webmd.com but talk to his doctors about a bone marrow sample
