Has anyone had kidney cancer and for how long and does anyone know how fast it spreads?

Also is it possible to be diagnosed bening tumor then later possibly cancer, anyone get wrong diagnosis?

I am recovering from kidney cancer - I didnt know I had it, as I had no symptons whatsoever. i was having a check up for other things, and this was found on a scan. Yr doctor might like to do a biopsy of the tumor to determine malignant or benign, but my doctor looked at my c.t scan and said it was malignant straight out. I could have had a biopsy, but couldnt see the point of more invasive stuff if he was already sure. My tumor was caught in the early stages - it is not usually picked up until the tumor is starting to impact on other organs of your body, or you are having pain, so I was very lucky. I have had a partial removal of my kidney, and 6 weeks since op - I only need 6 month scans and yearly ct for bones and lymph checks. My tumour had not spread when diagosed. If this is about you, you need to prepare as many questions as possible for your doctor and be informed about what they plan to do, recovery etc.

Just as every person is different every cancer is different. It depends on type, stage, make up of the cells and even the affected person.

My 5 yr old son is a stage 3, favorable histology, Wilms Tumor survivor. In layman's terms he had a form of childhood cancer that affects the kidneys. Out of 5 stages he was in the middle and the make up of the cells was favorable for treatment. Not that those with unfavorable cells can't be treated, they just have a longer and harder path to take.

My son's cancer had not spread beyond the kidney and all of it was removed in surgery.

My husband has been diagnosed with cancer accidentally because he has no symptoms at all. When we had his check up to his nephrology the doctor suggested him to have an MRI right in there his nephrology suggest him to have a radical nephrectomy as soon as possible. After 6 months he had a follow-up MRI and as of today he has no recurrency. You have to consult your doctor as soon as possible. Goodluck hope you will a good prognosis.
