Worried I have kidney or bladder cancer?

Hey guys, I've been in a bad way lately. I've had urinary problems on and off for years usually with burning and frequency, but one morning I woke up about a month ago with quite a bit of rust colored blood in my urine, moderate lower back pain and pain in my sides.. this lasted for 3 days. Then for about 3 weeks I felt pretty good with just some occasional lower back pain, pain in my sides but only when i first woke up and according to my doctor I have constant traces of blood in my urine. Then after that I had another attack just like the one from 3 weeks earilier with rust colored blood in my urine and the moderate pain. There is no infection. I 've seen a few docs about this but they all kind of laugh off the thought of cancer and they say im too young for kidney or bladder cancer..im 24 years old. What does this sound like to you guys? Can cancer symptoms be really bad for a week and then get better and then come back a few weeks later like that or are they usually constant? thnks

Most kidney cancer is found due to another reason besides pain.
You are young, and more likely to have something such as kidney stones, or glomerulonepritis. Have they even biopsied your kidneys? Have you been treated with antibiotics? Have you been worked up for anything?
Go to the nephrologist. Ask for answers as to why you have hematuria...
If you have pain and hematuria.... don't let yourself get blown off.

Is there a history of cancer in your family? If not, it probably isn't. However, I would change doctors and find one that is interested in tracking down the source of the blood in your urine. This isn't a laughing matter and those doctors sound like they suck. Fire them, and find a good one. Check with your PCP and request a referral to a nephrologist, who specializes in kidneys.

You probably have a really bad UTI, that has gone to the kidney. It's not a REALLY big deal but you do need to take antibiotics. Please see a doc ASAP because you can loose a kidney from this. It's a simple fix

Im guessing you have kidney stones. I have kidney cancer, and unless you are in the end stages, you shouldnt really have many symptoms at all. They found mine incidentally when they were doing cat scans of my heart. They took it out, and are just watching me now. I am 34 and have had it for about a year. Get a second opinion of what they think it is. I had no symptoms whatsoever, even to the day they removed it. Most times, from what i have learned is that by the time you encounter symptoms of kidney cancer, its too late! Good luck!

Cancer of the bladder and/or kidneys usually presents with painless blood in the urine, not saying that it can't have pain, but you're kind of outside the age ranges. Wilm's tumor is a common renal tumor in young kids, and bladder cancer is very common for those who have been smoking all of their lives. Regardless, just simply having blood in your urine is a medical indication to have more tests run, such as a cystoscopy which uses a scope to look inside your bladder. You can also have a renal ultrasound and x-ray to look for abnormalities including kidney stones and soft tissue masses. An intravenous pyelogram is an x-ray that looks at how well your kidneys are draining and if there are any obstructions in your urinary system, and or course a CT scan could also show any abnormalities. With your history, I think it is recommended that your doctor try to set up some of these exams. Blood in your urine should always be very well worked up.

u should go immediately 2the doctor 4 a check up,instead of chatting about these things, don t loose time!
