Can a kidney infection be cancer?

my mum got M.S about 14 yrs ago and still has it. lately shes been getting kidney infection very regular, could she have cancer? she is also starting to get other infections like in her teeth and bowels.

im so worried about her, please help.

Sounds to me like her immune system is starting to malfunction, so her immune system may not be able to fight off cancer cells as readily so she may develop cancer.

Hope I'm wrong.

A kidney infection cold be a malfunction of the cells and in turn could possible turn into polycystic kidney disease (cancerous cysts in and on the kidneys) which is cancerous, however that is highly unlikely and ussually hereditary. I would ask your doctor to run some tests on you. Good luck.

Doctors can tell the difference between cancer and infections. The urine will show bacteria and white blood cells, and sometimes leukocyte esterase- urine infections can be common in MS. If you are unsure you could get a second opinion. Its possible that she is just getting weaker as her disease progresses. Im sorry she is sick.

The first symptom of cancer of the kidney is often blood in the urine. The blood often appears suddenly, although it may be present one day and absent the next. Sometimes blood clots may form and cause spasms in the ureters or the bladder, which can be painful. Sometimes people may notice a lump in the area of the kidney or a dull pain in their side. A persistent high temperature and weight loss can also be symptoms of cancer of the kidney.Although these symptoms can be caused by conditions other than cancer of the kidney, such as an infection or stones in the bladder or kidneys, it is important to get them checked by your doctor. Most people with any of the above symptoms will not have cancer of the kidney.

Sometimes cancer of the kidney may not cause any symptoms and is diagnosed following a scan carried out for a different reason.
