My mom had small cell cancer it went into remission for a little over a year, its back and in her brain, kidney

her cancer spread from small cell cancer to her brain and kidneys after being in remission for a little more than a year what are her chances of recovery

Oh, sweetie, I feel for you. My dad was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer May of last year and to our misfortune, it was already Stage 4. We didn't have any idea because he seldom got ill and it was only in Feb last year that he got ill and had to have it checked. He was misdiagnosed to have Tuberculosis 3 then he lost his voice and the doctors can't say why. It was only when he had his full body CT scan did they hit it.

We tried to make fun out of his condition, with him trying to laugh even without his voice. We were devastated but didn't show it in front of him.

I can't technically say what her chances are especially if it's in her brain and kidneys already as I'm no specialist. And I don't want to sound defeatist but whatever findings her doctors have, you give her all your love and affection, sweetie. Make everyday a grand day for her in small or big ways. I hope (really hope) that she gets better.

i dont no but i will pray for her good luck and i am sorry

Sorry kid.

i'm so sorry

My mom had cancer and had to have chemo. I was very scary. all you can do is hope that the docters can get ride of all of it. Lance armstrong had cancer all over his brain and he survived and still cancer free. Don't give up. with cancer you can't give up. once you give up it's all over. tell your mom to be strong. i hope things will turn out good. things might get worse before they get better though. try to stay positive thats all you can do. i'll pray for you.

I am sorry you and your family are experiencing this situation. My hope and prayers go out to you. May she have a full and successful recovery.

Usually cancer when it gets into the brain is fatal. But go to see her doctor with her, and ask this question, he or she can be more specific, it is very important that you undersand the consequences of her illness so that you can deal with your grief better once she does eventually go. Talk to your priest or pastor as well they can help you and your family deal with this situation. I am sorry you have to go through this.

Recovery chances can still be good even after the medical community says she's terminal. Definitely do not check her into a useless hospice if she is terminal. Do not give up and do not listen to people that tell you that you can't address and reverse this naturally - thousands have. See http://www.hacres.com, http://www.pcrm.org, http://www.cancertutor.com to educate yourself and your mom on how to address causes of the cancer not the symptoms (the cancer itself). I assume she went the medical route previously? This is a typical response to being radiated. If you have tried to address this with diet and natural means and it comes back, my experience is that this is because you've slipped on your diet. One lady with a rare form of leukemia was doing well on an extreme carrot juice diet until someone told her she could start eating fish and be a little more lax. When she did, her lymphocytes peaked at 61%, but then she got back on the diet plan and they predictably dropped and she started feeling much better. Medical community said she had 3 months to live, luckily she didn't follow their treatment and she's alive and well today, I think 6 or 7 years later.

Your mom has a few options.. she should see her oncologist and perhaps chemotherapy and/or radiation will give her a good chance to recover..I dont know alot about alternate methods like certain juices and vitamins.. she shouldnt wait tho...she should find out now before the cancer goes to the bone or liver...by then theres little you can do for recovery.

I am sorry for what you are going through. I am not going to 'fluff' around the edges and say she is going to be ok. The cancer is know travelling to various organs and will continue to spread. Treatment may prolong the inevitable, but once in the brain i would consider it terminal, incurable. I am no doctor i am just speaking from my personal experiences. My Mum was diagnosed in May this year with kidney cancer. When it was discovered it had already spread to the liver and lung. She pasted away sept 7. It was very aggresssive and stripped her of all her life and dignity. I was told by the urologist that kidney cancer does not respond to chemo so treatment was useless they will not do radiation becasue it had travelled to far. You need to sit down with your oncologist and discuss what is happening he will best answer your questions. I wish you and your Mum all the best.
