Pregnant and found to have cancer of kidney op in 8 wks remove kidney should baby come out first? |
under 2 docs one for cancer, other for baby, cancer doc ,wants baby left in through out op and take chance i wont go into labour during surgery,he has done this op on a pregnant women only once before and her and baby survived which was carried out 11 yrs ago , but baby doc wants baby out as he says it can not be monitored during op, and to take a chance being 6 wks premature This is a tough choice. Surgery is risky either way. Do what's in your heart. There is a lot of new technology and your baby only being 6 weeks premature has a wonderful chance of survival. Needs mom to be around for the long haul, so you need to take care of your cancer, so you can see your child grow up. Hope this helps and good luck. My suggestion is that you find some more docotrs and get more opinions. You should also ask your docotr what the risks will be of your baby being 6 weeks premature and what risks your baby will endure while you are being operated on. oh dear ..don't really know what to say Save the baby and let it mature. You have two kidneys. The kidney surgery can wait. id dot eh surgery with the baby in...it prob wont damamge the kid...but premature may you do have a serious problem and I can't advise you either way. But I would suggest you get a second or even a third opinion before you make a decision. OMG , Wow you certainly have one huge dilema on youre hands but I really dont feel it is right for me to comment on this one as it is so huge . All I can say is that you know in youre heart what is right for you and whatever the outcome of youre decision it has to be just that youre decision . I wish you well and I sincerly hope that what ever you decide to do works out the very best for you . Im sorry that its not an answer to youre Q but I hope that you understand why I cant give my opinion . I would listen to the baby doctor and have the baby delivered before having the kidney surgery. A baby born 6 weeks early isn't really that terrible and the odds of everything being ok is really very good. I'm sure she/he would be sent to the NICU. id have the baby earlier you ll both stand a better chance and i know it sounds bad but until your baby takes a breath they can and will let him or her die my friend had twins a 26 weeks and they are 4 now they were 2.9 and 3.1 ask for a course of steroid injections they willl make the baby stronger i only know cause im also having twins and may need steroids to make my little two stronger have a c section this is a really bad idea to consult yahoo answers on something like this LMAO. go see more doctors please! dont listen to anyone with out an M.D. I am very sorry to hear your news. This is a very difficult thing to decide on, but I feel due to complications that could arise which could endanger your life and your babies life, If it was me in your position I would speak to both doctors and ask if they could meet you half way and induce the baby three weeks early meaning your kidney operation would be in eleven weeks time. This way your baby has a longer chance to mature and develop ready for the world, and you do not take the gamble of anything going wrong in your kidney operation. I know that procedures have developed, but the fact that he has only carried out one of these operations in 11 years does not fill me with confidence, but knowing that these operations carried out on non pregnant women are done very successfully and that babies born at approx 37 weeks are born healthy does fill me with 100% more confidence. Each of your doctors has a different agenda, if you are able to make a compromise like I have suggested I feel it would be the best solution all round. obviously you didnt ask yahoo as your sole way round this and obviously medical opinion is the way to go. but you did this aswel. its still ok to listen to others. i think deliver the baby first and concentrate on you. its a shame they cant get together are they at the same hospital. cant they do it simultaniously and both be present? i will think of you x |
