Keloids scar? |
anyone have a keloids scar? or did have one? Yes, I had a keloid scar. It's scar tissue that keeps on growing, even when the original scar has healed over. Mine was in the shape of a small carrot. I was young when I had one, and my parents tried a lot of different doctors and treatments(including radiation) to get rid of it. Only one treatment worked - dry ice. The doctor applied dry ice to the keloid while making sure that the ice did not touch any part of my normal skin area. Over a period of time - I forget how long, but less than a year - it receded and eventually flattened out completely. I still have the scar (3 1/2 inches long), but it is completely flat and barely noticable. check wikipedia. A keloid forms from a scar that didn't heal properly and is an unsightly raised red tissue. Some skin creams can help on a temporary basis, but the keloid will gradually fade over time. i am a keloid former myself but fortunately i have quite a few scars and they are not really ugly... my doctor friends once told me that steroid injections help minimizing the scars ... so your best bet is to go to a dermatologist about this.. I have one also. |
