U know of anybody w/ keloids on their body?

I have this friend who has keloids and she feels ugly cuz she can't wear certain types of clothing or fix her hair differently. It's a gene in her mother's side of the family and the docs don't recommend surgery cuz it'll happen to come back again. She feels like if people were to see her scars, they would trip out & gossip about them & just stare hard. I tell her she is beautiful, she has a husband that loves her, has a beautiful baby. She's beautiful enough to be a model, but she says different cuz of the scars. I wish I could help her by doing a make-over on her. I also tell her that a scar makes us unique and God made us the way we are. We can be ugly to everyone, but to God we're a precious stone.

You're a good friend. Keloids are caused by an overproduction of collagen, a fact that will help her have fewer wrinkles as she gets older. Sometimes creams like Mederma help. There's a cream sold at CVS pharmacy that helps. It's sold for wrinkles, but works on scars. Keloids do fade and are often produced near a joint such as the neck, jaw or elbow. The doctor's right. They do come back if they're removed. In the meantime, there are makeup products made to cover scars such as these. And beauty does come from the inside. You're absolutely right!

Yes, I do and your advice to her is good. There really isn't any proven method to remove these scars and only little sucess in reducing their size with lazers.
