For anyone who has had keloids?

Is it pretty painful? I am asking because my co-worker had a huge keloid right where her jaw line starts.

I have several keloids and, no, I experience no pain with them but they sometimes itch like crazy!

However, there are people who do experience pain with their keloids. Please recommend to your co-worker that she see a plastic surgeon (rather than a dermatologist since it is on her face). There are options available to treat the keloid and that might make her pain go away. Treatments include:
cortisone injections
cryosurgery
surgery followed with radiation
laser treatment
