Do you know about kawasaki disease?

Do you know about kawasaki disease?

Yes, I do. Kawasaki disease is a rare condition in children that involves inflammation of the blood vessels. The condition is usually accompanied by a fever that lasts at least 5 days. Other classic symptoms may include red eyes, lips, and mouth; rash; swollen and red hands and feet; and swollen lymph nodes.

Are you looking for information on it? If so, there are a lot of great resources on the web. This site has information including symptoms, pictures, treatment, and prognosis.

Yes, I have a friend whose daughter had it at 3 years old. Not sure of cause, they think it could be from carpet cleaners used at daycare. It is dangerous, but usually okay if treated early (within 10 days of contracting it). There is alot of info on the internet. Hope whoever has it does well!

hey there??
wat do u wanna know about it??
its an autoimmune disease, of the blood vessels.

wat do u specifically wanna know????
ask me out, i'll let u know.....

Yes, I have a kawasaki GSXRR1200 top speed of 260mph and I have the need for speed so it is terminal.

My son was diagnosed when he was not quite 6 months old. The doctors told us that it's a rare condition & even more rare for a baby to get it.

It was very scary for us because he was our only child at the time, and this was the first time he was ever sick. He was in a local hospital for a few days & then transferred to a Children's Hospital. Unfortunately there is no one test to diagnose this; the disgnosis comes after ruling everything else out & having a certain number of symptoms for a certain number of days. Some of his symptoms were the high fever, a really bizarre-looking rash, red tongue, swelling around his joints & peeling skin on his hands & feet. We were told that left untreated, the symptoms would probably resolve themselves, but the longer the disease was present, the more likely permanent damage could occur. The disease could attack the blood vessels surrounding the heart and cause an anurism. They gave him ImmunoGlobulin by IV over a 9 or 10 hour period. The next day, the rash was almost completely gone, the fever was gone & he was smiling & playing. It was amazing. We took him home that night - in time for his first Christmas Eve.

As a followup measure, my son had to see a cardiologist for an ekg & echo - to look for damage. Fortunately our diagnosis was just about as quick as possible & he ended up with no long-term effects. He is now 8 years old.
