Why are children aged below 5 yrs old are mostly affected with kawasaki disease?

There really is no proven answer as to why children under 5 are most affected. You also don't see it in children over 8. One theory is that the immune system isn't completely matured at that time and so the child is more susceptible to acquiring the virus that leads to Kawasaki Disease.
