Does Anyone know of a cure for Juvenile Onset Type 1 Diabetes?

I'm desperate for a sure cure!

no there is no cure but i 2 was a type one diabetic but my kidneys failed after 26 years and i had a kidney and pancreas transplant and i am longer a diabetic. it is a hard way to get cured but at least i am sttill alive.

Im sorry to dissapoint you, but at this stage there is no cure yet. But I am sure they are working on one. I have Type 2 Diabetes and I take medications to help with it. Its very daunting at times, but I want to make the most of my life and until they do find a cure for either one, I want to live to the fullest life I can. Here's hoping they do find a cure. Good luck

There is no cure yet for Diabetes, but it can be managed by remembering to take your medication and watching your diet.

Yes stem cells will cure it but Bush doesn't want experimentation with stem cells.

The only actual cures I know of have come through prayer.

In the natural realm an insulin pump is not a cure but can be a great help. In some case a pancreas transplant can be done but there are many many complications possible and no guarantees.

My husband and several members of his family have Diabetes so we have researched and researched. It is hard to have any chronic disease especially with childhood onset. However a lot of the hardness comes in how the parents feel about it and the feelings they pass on to their child. The emotional wallop hits as hard as the physical things sometimes. One thing that has seemed to help a lot of families dealing with Juvenile Diabetes is support groups of other families. Another is to deal wth it straight in teaching the child healthy life habits and adopting many of these habits as a family. It is a lot less hard on the child who is "alergic" to sugars and high glycemic index foods (quick acting carbs like cake, white breads, sweeets, etc) if the whole family has apples not cookies for snacks and learns and lives healthy eating plans than if he/she is the only one who can't have something. The child and the whole family need to know the testing routines etc and they need to be just that routine not poor Sam he has to stick his finger but just Sam it's time to check. The last issue of Diabetes Forecast had a good article by the mom of a Diabetic child. If you don't get that check out www.diabetes.org This is also a great place to learn of the latest research and helps.

The only cure for Diabetes, and most diseases, is a change in diet. People have to realize that the #1 defense to fight of disease and disorder is our Immune System. If we continue to take lightly the things that we put into our body for food and sustenance we will continue to get sicker and sicker. I hear people talk all the time about taking your meds to live a full life. Now while it's not 100%, but most of the people that you know that take meds for diseases/disorders they end up increasing the amount of meds over time. We have to take control of our situation and not rely on doctors that constanly offer prescription meds to fix our problems when we hear that the Pharmacuetical Industry is raking in record profits each year.

No cures yet, but they are working on it. In the meantime, stay on insulin, watch your diet, exercise and have faith that one day, diabetes will be a disease of the past. We are all desperate, but at my age, have learned patience. I hope the cure comes in your lifetime.

Well, I've heard from many that they have found something in Europe.... but the medical companies over here wouldn't like that seeing as they make a junkload of money off of Diabetics and their prescriptions... With insurance I pay $100/month for my Diabetic prescriptions and w/o insurance it's around $300-400. Even with insurance it's super expensive!

Believe me, if I had a cure, I'd first patent it and then yell it from the roof !

Whoa ! How amazing would that be !!!

No magic yet.

The 'sure cure' is in the not too distant future with pancreatic transplants and stem cell research. Today it is not available.

I have been waiting patiently for 35 years! I will let you know when it comes... i tooo.... will be 1st in line... well... maybe 2nd!
