Does anyone know anything about the knew way to cure juvenile diabetes?

There is NO way to cure diabetes.
Get with the program.

There is currently not any cure for MOST type 1 diabetes. I say most because very recently a genetic anomaly has been discovered which affects a very small percentage of type 1 patients. For these very few patients the symtoms of diabetes disappear by just taking a pill. These patients have all be diagnosed with type 1 before the age of 6 months. I have a link to the new article below. In general, Type 1 is caused when the person's own immune system attacks pancreatic beta cells which produce insulin. Once those cells have been killed off by the body then insulin must be given via injection or a pump in order for the person to live. This type of diabetes is most often initially diagnosed in children. Type 2 on the other hand is where a persons body still makes insulin but either does not make enough to keep up with that persons needs or the insulin that is produce is not being used efficiently by the body. Type 2 usually take pills that will help the body to use the insulin their nody still produces. Most types 2 can lessen the impact of the disease and avoid complications and the use of insulin through diet and exercise. Type 1s are insulin dependant for life. I believe the aboce poster is describing a child who has type 2 which is now also being seen more in children due to the rise in Obesity. Another form is diabetes which presents itself during pregnancy which I believe mimics type 2 diabetes. There are many many studies and experiments being conducting to cure all forms of this terrible disease. From what I've read stem-cell research seems to have the greatest potential so far.

I second the great post by Ella. I should point out though that the KIR 6 mutation requires oral diabetes medication for life, which replaces insulin for these folks. It does not cure it. Those with the KIR 6 mutation can switch over from insulin to a type of oral diabetes medication. This form is very rare, and only occurs in 1 in 1000 "Type 1" diabetics. It occurs only (as far as we know) in those who developed diabetes prior to 6 months of age.

There is NO cure for Type 1 (formerly known as Juvenile or Insulin Dependent) diabetes, but researchers are working on many future possibilities.

Many children are getting Type 2 diabetes due to obesity. This is not "Juvenile Diabetes" but rather Type 2 diabetes in kids.Type 2 diabetes can be helped with proper diet, weight loss, and exercise. It will not "cure" the disease, but the child may be able to remain or become medication free.

Unless your child is obese, they most likely have Type 1 diabetes. About 90% of diabetes cases in children are Type 1. Agian I stress, there is NO cure currently. Anyone who tell you otherwise does not know what Type 1 diabetes is, or is after your money. Type 1 diabetes is a genetic autoimmune disease that is NOT related to diet, excess sugar, weight, or exercise. It cannot be prevented or cured at this time. A healthy diet, etc. will NOT make Type 1 diabetes go away, no matter what.

P.S. Perhaps you mean research. There have been many breakthroughs, but they are all experimental. Here is a link with a new Type 1 diabetes treatment that may offer hope in the future.

There is no "cure" for juvenile diabetes.....you can live with it by good control, but you cannot get rid of it!

Diabetes can NOT be cured. There are ways that one can control it. These ways can seem like a cure b/c they may require no meds. But they are still diabetic. Type 2's can sometimes control it with lifestyle changes such as dieting and exercising. Type 1's if overweight can possibly make the same adjustments but not usually. Work is being done with stem cell research which has allowed Type 1's to go off insulin for months at a time. But there is no cure yet.

Canada does, they inject healthy pancreas cells into a bad pancreas. so ive heard.

i think you know

Have you seen the that TV show that challenges 2 families to lose weight? its called the biggest loser. Last year there was a girl on the program who had juvenile diabetes. She was able to get rid of it by eating right and exercising. Then again she got diabetes from eatting bad in the first place. Some children have diabetes because of a medical condition.
