Anyone who has gotten rid of diabetes?

Hi, im just wondering if there are any people out there who have gotten rid of diabetes? i had juvenile diabetes but got rid of it when i was about 7. dont know how and dont know why, it just left.

theres is no way to get rid of diabetes.. you might not have the signs and symptoms for now of your blood sugar level being out of wack.. but those who had juvenile diabetes they are at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes in the future

all you can do is monitor and keep it under control with meds

yea its true
a family friend got rid of it from eating healthy
she dropped 50 pounds and it went away

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last year and my Endocrinoligist put me on Byetta and I took it for about 6 months and then my blood sugars were going low and she took me off of it and ever since my AC1s have averaged 4.7.(perfect) so Im not taking nothing now but I did lose 40lbs and quit drinking sugar drinks. So I guess you could say I got rid of it.

http://www.amazon.com/Infectious-Diabete... read that book, i think there are those who get it and then get rid of it. maternal diabetics sometimes do. means they get diabnetes while pregnant due to their health and the stress of tthe pregnancy.

the author of that book might seem a bit far fetched with some of his claims but the man backs them up with scientific study after scientific study... some dating back to the 1930's!!

whats more there are those who seem to throw it off sometimes but it could be due to a diet change.

hope that answers your question.

There is no cure for diabetes.

While it can be managed and controlled, it cannot be cured.

Many diabetics (type 2s) find that with strict diet and exercise programs, they can lose the weight and get to the point where they may no longer need diabetes medicaitons. THIS IS NOT A CURE. They still have diabetes...it is simply well-controlled.

Once a person has it, they have it.

I'm a type 1 and I have been for many years. I take care of myself, eat right, get plenty of exercise, am thin and fit...yet I still MUST take insulin and will have to for the rest of my life. I use an insulin pump. All the diet and exercise in the world is going to make my pancreas come back to life.

It really makes me angry when I see false advertisments claiming that there is a cure for diabetes. To me, this is cruel and gives false hope.

The only type of diabetes that can be "cured", so to speak, is gestational. It develops during pregnancy and usually goes away after the birth of the baby. However, women who develop gestational diabetes have a much higher chance of developing type 2 later in life.

EMT
type 1, insulin pump

Edit: There have been a FEW people cured of diabetes through islet cell transplantation. However, this is highly experimental and not in common use. Stem cell research continues but at this time, remains highly controversial and is years away from final development.

People like you, with type 1 will always have to be on insulin.
There is no way you were sick in the first place.
The person who suggested that type1 leads to type 2 is completely off .
People with type two can often reduce their need for medication but they will always have diabetes.
