Diabetes?? |
sooo..there's 2 types of diabetes right? there's the type 1 or juvenile diabetes and the type 2. so if you're diagnosed that you have type 1 diabetes, does that mean that you were born with it? or did you just develop it..oh and does type 1 diabetes become or evolve into type 2 diabetes while you grow up? or does is stay type 1 forever... Type one is where the body's own antibodies attack the insulin producing part of our pancreas. No, there are many theories floating around that it is caused by a virus or the reaction of the body to ingestion of a foreign protein that resembles the proteins in the pancreas... or a combination of the two. It does not evolve... the damage is permanent. However, if a type one patient eats a poor diet and doesn't get enough exercise, there have been cases where they develop "insulin resistance" which is the hallmark of type two diabetes. This has been called type three or double diabetes by some folks, but neither appears to be widely accepted as yet. I came across a site that offers free diabetes tests for the people who are worried but dont want to go to the dokter right away . Diabetes can be maintained through a healthy diet. People take there BSLs (blood sugar levels) 3-6 times a day by pricking their finger and now-a-days putting it on a small tab that goes into a electronic device that gives them a reading within seconds. It should be between 6-10. If the BSLs get to low they can go into a diabetic coma, or just collapse/ faint/blackout. If this happens it is recommended that they are given something like honey, a sugary drink or fruit juice, then something to eat and check their reading 15-30 mins later.if they go into a coma or a period of unconsciousness (anything longer than 30 seconds would be a major concern) its best to call an ambulance. Yes people can die of diabetes, however I'm not sure how often this would happen. okay, type 1 and two diabetes are two different diseases, one does not evolve into the other. Type 1 diabetes is immune-mediated, meaning that the immune system attacks the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. The result is that you no longer produce sufficient insulin to maintain the glucose-levels in your body, which gives all kinds of complications. In type 2 diabetes, cells just aren't susceptible to insulin anymore, which results in pretty much the same complications as in type 1 diabetes. in type 2 diabetes, also obesity and high blood pressure play an important role. yes as you say their are two types of diabetes type1 that is Insulin Dependent Diabetes or juvenile. This may be caused by virus or autoimmunity. In this type their is inability of pancreas to produce adequate amount of insulin. first type two diabetes is the lesser of two evils. usually it can be controlled by diet or if necessary by medication, usually a once a day pill. type one is more advanced and usually will result in insulin shots. eventually over a period of time if you are on insulin you are prone to develop problems with your kidneys. Of course in the long term with kidney failure eventually you will die. However it is not short term, it can be many years. I am a type 2 diabetic and i watch what i eat, keep check on my sugar daily, and go about normal activities. as for your stupid project, it may suck for you, but it is knowledge you may need to know in the future for your own well being. I hope this will help in your health project a little. Good Luck. One is not born with type 1 diabetes. It develops during childhood. It is due to an autoimmune disease which affects pancreas cells. Type 1 diabetes is when your pancreas can produce little or no insulin, the substance that controls glucose level in your blood. This is the worse of the two kinds. You have to control your diet, exercise and get insulin shots. It is usually irreversible. put it this way, type 2 diabetes is what fat people and drinkers/lazy people get(can be somewhat genetic). Type1 is much worse and is genetic or just random, I got type 1 without anyone in my family having it, and its not curable I recently read an article that might give you a little bit of insight on this. I am 14 and I have Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes. I wasn't born with Diabetes, but some people are. It's possible that once you get older, your type 1 can turn into type 2. But this is only like, if you don't take care of yourself. Basically, type 1 diabetes is when your pancreas (in your stomach) stops producing insulin. When your body stops producing insulin, your bloodsugars go high, and you have to regulate your bloodsugars by giving a needle (I take 3 a day) of insulin. Different people sometimes need different types of insulin. Any types of diabete is curable. And by doing some yoga's exercises and taking some herbs you can control your diabetes upto a limit. But,you would've to very much careful about that.Cycling is very good exercise for controlling diabetes. And you can keep your life long and healthy. |
