Diabetes??

sooo..there's 2 types of diabetes right? there's the type 1 or juvenile diabetes and the type 2. so if you're diagnosed that you have type 1 diabetes, does that mean that you were born with it? or did you just develop it..oh and does type 1 diabetes become or evolve into type 2 diabetes while you grow up? or does is stay type 1 forever...

is diabetes that deadlyyyy?? or if you just manage it well, you'll be able to keep ur life?? stupid health project. it sucks.

Type one is where the body's own antibodies attack the insulin producing part of our pancreas. No, there are many theories floating around that it is caused by a virus or the reaction of the body to ingestion of a foreign protein that resembles the proteins in the pancreas... or a combination of the two. It does not evolve... the damage is permanent. However, if a type one patient eats a poor diet and doesn't get enough exercise, there have been cases where they develop "insulin resistance" which is the hallmark of type two diabetes. This has been called type three or double diabetes by some folks, but neither appears to be widely accepted as yet.

Diabetes is only deadly for those who don't acknowledge it and take proper care of it. I have a wealth of info available on my diabetes info page here:
http://www.geocities.com/seabulls69/Type...

It's hardly a stupid project. Diabetes affects over 20 million known cases in this country. There are probably even more that are undiagnosed.

I came across a site that offers free diabetes tests for the people who are worried but dont want to go to the dokter right away .

Diabetes can be maintained through a healthy diet. People take there BSLs (blood sugar levels) 3-6 times a day by pricking their finger and now-a-days putting it on a small tab that goes into a electronic device that gives them a reading within seconds. It should be between 6-10. If the BSLs get to low they can go into a diabetic coma, or just collapse/ faint/blackout. If this happens it is recommended that they are given something like honey, a sugary drink or fruit juice, then something to eat and check their reading 15-30 mins later.if they go into a coma or a period of unconsciousness (anything longer than 30 seconds would be a major concern) its best to call an ambulance. Yes people can die of diabetes, however I'm not sure how often this would happen.

okay, type 1 and two diabetes are two different diseases, one does not evolve into the other. Type 1 diabetes is immune-mediated, meaning that the immune system attacks the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. The result is that you no longer produce sufficient insulin to maintain the glucose-levels in your body, which gives all kinds of complications. In type 2 diabetes, cells just aren't susceptible to insulin anymore, which results in pretty much the same complications as in type 1 diabetes. in type 2 diabetes, also obesity and high blood pressure play an important role.
both types of diabetes are for life (for now), but can be managed. in the case of type 1, insulin injections are needed, in type 2, you can do a lot by changing your life habits (eating healthier, exercise, etc). try wikipedia for loads of detailed info.

yes as you say their are two types of diabetes type1 that is Insulin Dependent Diabetes or juvenile. This may be caused by virus or autoimmunity. In this type their is inability of pancreas to produce adequate amount of insulin.
In type two it is called Insulin-Independent Diabetes. In this their will be enough secretion of insulin but the tissue will not be able to observe it because of the deposit of the fate tissue.
It can be controlled even solved by following proper diet and exercise. It is not a disses it is a disorder of a gland or a cause of obesity.

first type two diabetes is the lesser of two evils. usually it can be controlled by diet or if necessary by medication, usually a once a day pill. type one is more advanced and usually will result in insulin shots. eventually over a period of time if you are on insulin you are prone to develop problems with your kidneys. Of course in the long term with kidney failure eventually you will die. However it is not short term, it can be many years. I am a type 2 diabetic and i watch what i eat, keep check on my sugar daily, and go about normal activities. as for your stupid project, it may suck for you, but it is knowledge you may need to know in the future for your own well being. I hope this will help in your health project a little. Good Luck.

One is not born with type 1 diabetes. It develops during childhood. It is due to an autoimmune disease which affects pancreas cells.
Type 1 of diabetes can not change to type 2 anyway. The major treatment for type 1 is Insuin while type 2 can be treated through oral hypoglycemics firstly and then Insulin when it get worsed.
Diabetes is not that deadly. If one control his/her glucose level, he/she can live with diabetes as a friend. It is a friend unless you bother it.

Type 1 diabetes is when your pancreas can produce little or no insulin, the substance that controls glucose level in your blood. This is the worse of the two kinds. You have to control your diet, exercise and get insulin shots. It is usually irreversible.

Type 2 is generally when your body shows insulin resistance that is, insulin isnt as effective in dealing with blood glucose. You have to take medication to deal with insulin resistance, and possibly even something to control the sugar by increasing insulin production. Diet and exercise are a must. This may be reversible with proper care.

It depends on what you deem deadly. Blind spots on your retina, amputations of limbs, diseased and eventually defunct kidneys, heart disease (to name but a few problems) leading to premature death. I think it is rather deadly. But with proper care and medication totally manageable.

put it this way, type 2 diabetes is what fat people and drinkers/lazy people get(can be somewhat genetic). Type1 is much worse and is genetic or just random, I got type 1 without anyone in my family having it, and its not curable

I recently read an article that might give you a little bit of insight on this.

It is at http://www.associatedcontent.com/article...

Hope this helps.

I am 14 and I have Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes. I wasn't born with Diabetes, but some people are. It's possible that once you get older, your type 1 can turn into type 2. But this is only like, if you don't take care of yourself. Basically, type 1 diabetes is when your pancreas (in your stomach) stops producing insulin. When your body stops producing insulin, your bloodsugars go high, and you have to regulate your bloodsugars by giving a needle (I take 3 a day) of insulin. Different people sometimes need different types of insulin.
You can get type 2 Diabetes if you are overweight, don't exercise, don't eat right, and don't really take care of your health. You usually get type2 when you are older, and type 1 when you are younger, but it doesn't always work that way. Diabetes sucks because I have to eat at cetrain times, and at those times, I can only eat a certain amount of food. No, Diabetes isn't contageous (my friend thought it was lol), but it can be passed down to you if it runs in your family. Diabetes is only deadly if you don't manage it well. Another thing that you might want to add to your health project is that when you have Diabetes, you take longer to heal when you have like cuts and bruises and stuff like that. You also have to really protect your feet. Sugar free stuff is the best for Diabetes.
Sorry I wrote so much, but I just wrote whatever I could think of that would help!

Any types of diabete is curable. And by doing some yoga's exercises and taking some herbs you can control your diabetes upto a limit. But,you would've to very much careful about that.Cycling is very good exercise for controlling diabetes. And you can keep your life long and healthy.
