Diabetes and scars?

For some reason, I scar REALLY easily. I think it may be because I have been a juvenile (type I) diabetic for 11 years.
So, there are two questions here.
1. Is it my diabetes that causes scars to occur easily?
2. What can I do to get rid of the scars I have? Neosporin doesn't help. Mostly it is acne scarring but I get random cuts on my hands and feet that leave small, nasty scars, too.
As a side note, I am a poor college student so I can't afford crazy plastic surgeries at this point in time!!
Thanks :)

I have been married for 16 years to a diabetic, and yes, she scars very easily. The least little thing she gets, like a small pimple, a scar will form. This is because diabetics don't heal "completely" as someone without diabetes does, if that makes sense. I don't think there is a whole lot you can do about it. However, since I am not a doctor, perhaps you can ask your diabetes doctor to be certain.

Thanks... I talked to my doctor and he said that high blood sugars definitely increase the risk of scars. If someone is over 200 he doesn't even recommend any surgery! Report It

Try some potrolleum jelly (vasoline) or use somthing to hydrate the skin.

My mom is a juvenile diabetic she has a medicated cream for that stuff. The drs didn't give you that? I know there are creams out there you can use for scars but i'm not sure if you can use them if you diabetic. You'd have to read the label.

You should be able to go the demertologist and get medicine for that. Why hasn't your dr sent you? Hopefully this link will help you.

scar tissue is hard to disguise and is there for a long time I use plain sorbolene it is safe and is used for diabetics it comes as plain sorbolene or sorbolene with glycerin it wont remove the scar but it tends to make them less visible and as a bonus gives you nice soft skin.
it is cheap and safe can't hurt to try it.
