How to get her to stop feeding the kid so much?

OK heres the story...I have a step daughter that just turned 7 and already weighs over 80 lbs. The summer clothes that we just bought for her b-day is a size 16 in girls. Now we have her about 50-60% of the time and we keep a good eye on what she eats and how much she eats but, her mother on the other hand does not. she lets her eat junk food all of the time and lets her have snacks all day long if she wants. I cant seem to make her mom understand that what she is doing is not good for her and she needs to stop. I'm so scared that shes going to end up having health problems in a few years such as juvenile diabetes , high blood presure or heart problems just to list a few. Her mother and I get along really well and always have from the being of mine and my hubbys (her ex hubby) relationship. In the past 4 1/2 years that I've known her weve never ever had harsh words between us. So I dont really know what to say to her about it with out hurting her feelings. HELP!!

A tough one. Is there an intermediary who can speak to her? The dangers of childhood obesity are well known and well documented. Not to mention what obese children have to go through at school. Maybe your husband can help on this one. Perhaps you can bring up in a friendly way with your step daughter's mother all the good healthy foods that you know your step daughter would enjoy. You're absolutely right on this point and I wish you and your step daughter the best.

Just tell her the truth

Have your husband tell her.

First tell her how you really feel about what she is doing then after you get her to understand try to go to the doctors with you her and your step daughter to ask for help for your step daughter to lose weight and what can happen if she dosen't so you can have your step daughter alive for years to come
