How many new type 1 diabetics here have received a free "Bag of Hope" from the JDRF?

How many have heard about this? My daughter's endocrinologist did not say a thing about it, I found this all on my own.

If you haven't got one yet, you should contact your local JDRF and ask. They have volunteers that will get one to you. It comes with a teddy who also has juvenile diabetes :o) He's got a little med alert bracelet and little sewn in patches of cloth where you can practice giving him shots. It comes with a free meter and tons of literature, all in a nice backpack. I haven't gone through everything in ours yet.

You can find the number of your local chapter here:

Don't be shy, they're all volunteers who either have type 1 or have a family member with it. They're really nice and will help you as much as they can.

Thanks sis, for the answer and the star. I know it's not one of those questions where I'm really needing to know something, but is nice to get at least one answer :o)

I just took a look in the backpack, and it's not all kids stuff in there. There's a free meter, and a copy of the book about diabetes that I had to read when my daughter was dx'ed. And it's an adult sized backpack ... lots of stuff in there for someone like you, and I don't see why they would turn you away. Let me know how it goes, the ppl at my local chapter are soooo nice.

:-(( It's for kids, and at 34, I'm not quite a kid. I may contact my local branch though, because the information in this bag would help me explain diabetes to the kids in my family... Thanks for the info.
