How can I get my sons' medical records when his doctor has gone missing in action? |
I am trying to get my son in with another doctor. I called the previous doctor and the number was disconnected. Went to the location and there was a for sale sign in the window of the building. Other hospitals have no clue as to where the doctor is and my son is showing small signs to juvenile diabetes. Where do I look and who do I call. I live in NE OHIO. Thank you in advance. My advice, call the number on the For Sale sign. If it s a realitor, perhaps they have a forwarding address/phone number. If it isnt a realitor (ie...the doctor is a small family practice and owns the space himself) then perhaps you will get in contact with him. Wow...I'd make an apt. w/ a new Dr. in the area right away....medical records are important, but you can see the Dr. before you track them down...ask the new Dr. about your previous one......he or she may have an idea as to where the Dr. went or how to get your son's records. You could also call your state's agency that liscences Drs. and see if you can get some info. When you do get your son's records, give one copy to the new Dr. and keep a set somewhere safe for yourself. Once you give another Dr. the records he/she cannot release them onto the next Dr. Drs. cannot release other Drs. records. contact the medical board and tell them your story...they may be able to locate the Dr. and retrieve your files while adding this incident to his.... make an appointment with a new , reputable doctor. Tell them when you go in, the information you have on your old doctor. It may be in your best interest to start fresh anyway. Any concerns you have with possible juvenile diabetes can be discussed on you first appointment with the new doctor and they can then start whatever testing they need to do from there. |
