What is causing my left hand to be numb, tingly, and weak? |
Recently I've noticed that I am having a difficult time with my left hand. It has become quite numb and tingly (particularly in my pinky and ring finger), and occasionally hurts when I make a fist. I've also noticed that it has become rather weak as well. I am having a difficult time typing, opening clothes pins, latchinghooks on garments, etc., etc., because it feels so weak. the best answer i could give is poor blood circulation in your left hand, and it would probably be a good thing to get it checked out because it also is a sign people get right before a stroke or heart attack! please see your doc if you have these symptoms and diabetes. this also sounds like a circulation issue or a repetitive injury like from typing or playing sports. Aside from neuropathy related to your diabetes, you could also have a misalignment in your spine that is compressing the nerve root to that hand. I am thinking you may have a pinched nerve. This could happen in your sleep or you could have moved a certain way and some things got bunched up, you could have also gotten a nerve pinched from some how compressing on it. Or you may simply have carpal tunnel syndrome. This is caused by constant or repetitive motions. It is very common now. Symptoms could be tingly, numbness, weakness, pain etc. Go see a doctor! Mention your symptoms and ask about a pinched nerve or carpal tunnel syndrome! good luck! carpal tunnel? It could be neuropathy. It could be carpal tunnel if you use your hands alot for typing or any repetitive movements. I would go to a doctor and possibly get a referal to a neurologist to find out for certain what is wrong. There are several things that can be done to help relieve any pressure if it is carpal tunnel. You might have to see a neurologist if it is neuropathy. Please see your doctor. The symptoms you state are caused by damage to the Ulnar Nerve of your hand. If the middle and index fingers are also involved - the Median Nerve is implicated. It could be Diabetic Neuropathy or else just a repititive stress injury (RSI) - but please do get it checked. It is easier to treat if the condition is new. I actually agree with everyone else,See your Doc hon. Could be nothing or really something. |
