Ring worm / jock itch treatment? |
Im pretty sure i have jock itch and i have treated it but... not that great i didnt treat it as much as i first did and i think its back so im going to re get some spray and use it again.... but now i think i have ring worm on my elbow... can i just use the jock itch cream on the ring worm too? Yes, both can be treated with an antifungal cream or lotion. If you wish to avoid a repeat performance, though, you need to do something about the situation that literally breeds the trouble. Start with airing out things, by going commando at night. Wear boxers unless you really need to wear something snugger fitting, so you get some airflow in there. Use an antibacterial soap and medicated body powder to limit bacterial growth in the normal sweaty location. Spray isn't as effective as the creams or lotions, or the powders, it's best used in shoes if you have athlete's foot. Wear all cotton shorts and boxers, and loosen the fit of your pants in the crotch area. Holding heat and moisture in the groin amounts to crotch pot cooking, and what you cook up are fungal and yeast infections- most unpleasant. Since sunlight isn't a real option, dryness and airflow become necessities. Don't use the scrubbie you use on your tush on the rest of you. If you must, wash the rest of you first, and then your tush. Then wash it, don't reuse it again. If you have a scrubbie, soap it up good afterwards, rinse it well and hang it to air dry completely before next use. Or dip it in a bleach solution to kill off the gerbies. You likely spread the fungus from your crotch to the arm if you didn't do this before. When you apply the cream or lotion to the spots, wash you hands well before you touch any other part of you, or you may get more in other areas. And wash your underclothing in hot water with bleach, then bake them dry before you wear them again. If you've been going commando under regular clothing, it needs washing, disinfecting and baking dry as well as your towels and wash cloths or body scrubbie. They should both be treated with an antifungal agent, but I would call a pharmacy and ask them to be sure which brand is best. |
