Jock itch? Red, scaly patches? Ocassional itchiness? |
This is pretty mortifying for me as a female. Even since December '07 I have had this dark scaly patch of something on the bend where my thigh meets the crotch. My mother thought it was a fungus so she gave me an antifungal cream. That didn't do much. I went to the doctor and she said that it was jock itch and prescribed another cream. If it didn't clear up after 4 weeks, then I should come back. The itchiness had stopped but the red pigmentation didn't go away. So I went to another doctor in May and got two more creams, allergy soap, and antifungal capsules. Nothing!! Though I will say that it appears the patch has moved closer to the vulva and is now a reddish color instead of scaly looking. Lately though, I've been a bit buggered because it's been itchy. This has been driving me insane and I don't know what to do. I don't really do anything. I'm not sexually active, I don't play sports, and I eat my yoghurt. I guess I do sweat a lot, but I wear cotton panties and avoid tight pants If it has been determined that it is a fungal infection, there are several herbal remedies you can try. My favorite it tea tree oil. It is an anti microbial. Because of the area of infection, you might want to dilute it a bit in a carrier oil like grapeseed or jojoba. Another option would be to make a strong tea for a wash for the area. The herbs you would use would be Thyme, Pau d' Arco, and a bit of Witch Hazel. The 1st 2 are anti fungal and the last one is astringent. I would be willing to bet money that you have a Candidas infection ( that's what jock itch is) and if you do, then most of the prescriptions you can get won't work because the fungus has developed resistance to them. That's why you've only had minimal results using them. You will also want to take the Pau d' Arco internally for about a week as well. Couple times of day should do it. Good Luck!
