Is jock itch contagious?

I'm a girl. Is it possible that I could get jock itch down there from my boyfriend? Is it possible that he has it but doesn't know it?

I don't have crabs or lobsters or any other type of invertebrate.

Jock itch is a fungal infection, like a yeast infection. Using a medicated ointment designed for yeast infections should clear it up. Do NOT try to use products for athletes foot, as they are not safe for your sensitive areas, and it's a different fungus. You may have a yeast infection yourself, without having gotten it from him. (They are caused by hormone inbalances, high blood sugar, taking antibiotics, or wearing damp clothing - dancewear, swimwear - too long.)

If you have crabs (pubic lice), the itchy sensation is endless, and that cream won't help. In that case, you need to use shampoo for head-lice, and comb out the nits (or shave).

With the lice, you should launder ALL your bedding in hot water, tumble dry for 30 minutes or more. Pillows, stuffed toys, etc. can be tumbled in a hot dryer for 30 minutes to kill any bugs. Thoroughly vacuum the mattress, carpeting, and couch. Finally, clean the bathroom well, being sure to get all the loose hairs from the floor (lice and nits live on the hair strands, whether or not they are still attached to your body).

Your boyfriend should do all the same steps, otherwise you will simply carry insects back and forth from home to home, and neither will be rid of them.
