How can I completely get rid of this jock itch? I've had it for 3 years now...? |
I鈥檝e had jock itch for about 3 years now, and nothing seems to get rid of it. I鈥檝e tried all of the over the counter ointments and creams, and nothing works. I鈥檝e tried antifungal and antibacterial creams. I鈥檝e even gone to see a dermatologist, and the stuff he prescribed didn鈥檛 work either. The only thing that I have found that helps ease its annoyance is medicated talcum body powder. It provides 24 hour relief, but after I take my shower, it becomes extremely irritated and red. It seems that exposure to water likes to activate my jock itch. If I don鈥檛 take a shower for like 3 days, it feels better each day. However, since I must take a shower everyday, I always put on the talcum powder afterwards and bam I don鈥檛 have to think about it the rest of the day. However, if I do not use medicated body powder, my day will be miserable. The best way to reduce your jock itch is to avoid sweets and other sugars like cakes, ice cream ,candies etc. Sugar feeds the fungus in your body thus to clean it out is not to feed them. Eat fresh fruits if you crave for sweets. have you gone to the doctor? It may be something else. See a Medical Doctor, not a skin doctor. You may have other issues that aren't being addressed. soap and water.....wash that thing If you take aloe vera juice it will help clear it up..it sounds like your not getting enough air down there..get cotton underwear and go natural when you can..and put on aloe vera gel directly on it, it might burn the first time...another trick is to take baking soda in water about 1/2 cup and wash the area then rinse it should nutralize the bacteria...drink alot more water which helps. it is really not a fungus as much as a heat rash..hope it helps Trying antifungal body powder certainly can't hurt. i seriously just had jock itch and i just put antifungal stuff on it I have never had jock itch in my life. Then again, the one thing I do that has prevented any problems is that I shave my entire pubic area. Its now a weekly 'ritual' and I would rather have no hair and itch that have hairs that trap bacteria and cause me to itch like heck!! I agree with the lady above - avoid sweets, caffeine and alcohol. Try using tea tree oil on the area topically. You may want to dilute it a bit because it can cause a very strong burning sensation. Tea tree oil is a good natural anti-fungal agent. You can splash it on several times a day if needed and the sensation the oil leaves on the skin may alleviate the itching. go back to you Dermotologist and ask him if you could have an allergy to the preservitives in the treatments-even prescriptions. I had a groin rash and I was cured in about 2 weeks-it continued to hurt and itch. They figured out 6 weeks later that I was allergic to the preservatives in the meds they were giving me. When they gave me soaks and a special ointment with out these compounds-I was fine-like 4 days! |
