How Do I Get Rid of It?
Jock itch usually responds to self-care, and using over-the-counter antifungal creams and sprays will probably clear it up, though prescription antifungal creams are sometimes required. Be sure to:

Wash, then dry the area using a clean towel.
Apply the antifungal cream, powder, or spray as directed on the label.
Change your clothes, especially your underwear, every day.
It's important to continue this treatment for 2 weeks, even if symptoms disappear, to prevent the infection from recurring. If these steps don't work, it's a good idea to see a doctor. Sometimes, a doctor may need to prescribe a stronger antifungal cream, spray, or pill.

Stop itching it

They have powders for that.

Swim in a chlorinated pool.
It works!!

Sandpaper.

(lamsil A.T) it worked wonders on mine.........(embarrassing but true)

Jock itch is one manifestation of a yeast (Candida) infestation. It can either be on the surface, or systemic - and can be both. Fastest way - anti-fungal powder or ointment like Lotrimin AF or Ultra, or the generic equivalent.

You are right. It can return, because it can be passed through bodily contact between partners, but also because our intestines carry a goodly supply.

For basic information on the systemic yeast syndrome, check out the link on the Welcome page of www.hufa.org.

Do these things for 2 weeks, if it doesn't improve go to the doctor to get some pills.

鈥leep in the nude (wearing underwear in bed make it extremely hot and sweaty in that "area")

鈥hange underwear often, do not wear whities, wear cotton boxers only.

鈥et the cheapest Jock Itch powder, they're all the same and get a lot of it.

鈥n the middle of the day at work, go to the bathroom and put more jock itch powder "down there". Change boxers if you can.

Hope this helps.

There are plenty of medications for this at your local drug store.
Try searching on www.google.com for more information.

fungus medicine.. seriously

Lototrim ( I think that is how you spell it), It is the same thing you use if you have athlete's foot. When my kids were in diapers they would get a yeast rash,( bright red small bumps) and that is what the doctor suggested. It always worked.

The skin is healthiest if it is kept dry. Over the counter anti-fungal medications, (Gold Bond Powder and the like,) are usually enough to treat this problem effectively but you can help things along by wearing freshly washed clothing daily and making a second quick change of under ware during the middle of the day. Adding in an application of a drying agent, like talcum powder, to the effected skin will be comforting and helpful, too. Avoid using harsh soaps or applying oily cover-ups to the skin - both will probably just aggravate the problem. Remember ... DRY DRY DRY. Re-read Sarj and cornelius_joe... They have the right idea and don't be temped to bath too frequently, once or twice a day is plenty; your skin is a natural harbor of a number of organisms - a battle ground of them, really, (bacteria, fungus, yeast,) and each keeps the other in check. Washing any of them away or washing them ALL away will lead to new and even worse problems. Someone suggested a dip in a pool... that's good idea but it wont do the job all by itself and I wouldn't choose this time to get an all-over tan. When the skin is under this kind of strain it's already inflamed and burning enough. (smile)

You're right to be frustrated by this, it's a difficult and stubborn problem to deal with, but it can be helped and eventually it can subside. Give it a few weeks to month of your fullest attention and you'll get better, Jock.
