Can zinc oxide be used to treat jock itch?

I've been having an itch around the area of my groin and it's very irritating. To my knowladge, I'm almost positive that it's a jock itch - can anyone verify and can I use zinc oxide to treat it?

Buy a tube of Lotrimin at your local drugstore. Your skin will absorb it and it won't leave a mess like zinc oxide!

Try Lamisil. It sounds like a yeast infection.

Zinc oxide works on some stuff- but isn't that a little too "sticky" for that area?
