What is the most difficult jet lag, flying west or east?

People seems to think that Jet Lag is more difficult and more tiring when you fly East than West. Any reasons why?

When people are locked underground without clocks, they do not follow the 24 hour day, the human body prefers to exist on a 25 hour day. When flying west the person has that extra hour that feels more natural, but when flying east it makes the day only 23 or 22 hours, which is very unnatural and we don't acclimate very easily.

Because of "TIME" Difference. You gain time going West and not as Tired. You Lose time going East, it much later when you get there. But, I sleep in both Directions and not get Jet-Lag.

I think it depends on the person, but I did'nt think I was affected until recently. I live near Philly and used to fly to California to see friends and relatives. I never got phased by the trips west because it made for a longer day. However, when flying home I would get depressed and cranky (who, me?) and took a few days to get back to a somewhat regular sleep cycle. Even a sporadic sleeper like myself can be affected. My traveling companions would be affected the other way when we landed in California and had no adverse effects upon returning home.

I have never had it going West but occasionally (once badly) going East. I try to adjust early to the time difference and sleep on the way but it can catch up with you.
