What is jet lag? any sugestion or prevention to make the flight more interesting?

Seriously? Jet lag is when your body thinks its one time of the day and its actually another (due to the time difference in the country you go to), don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise, they just want an excuse to be tired after a long flight, lightweights! My best suggestion? Hmmm, once you get to cruising altitude, develop a sudden and extreme case of Tourette syndrome followed by feigning paralysis in your legs with a quick bout of muscle spasm in your right arm, should do the trick nicely! (Don't expect to fly with Virgin air again though!)

Jet lag, also jetlag or jet-lag, is a physiological condition which is a consequence of alterations to the circadian rhythm. Such alterations result from shift work, daylight saving time, altered day length, or as the name implies, transmeridian travel as on a jet plane. They are known as desynchronosis, dysrhythmia, dyschrony, jet lag, or jet syndrome. The condition is generally believed to be the result of disruption of the "light/dark" cycle that entrains the body's circadian rhythm. It can be exacerbated by environmental factors.

Simple prevention can be good sleep while aboard the plane, and adequate intake of fluids (without excessive amounts of caffeine or alcohol) to reduce the effects of dehydration on the body, caused by the dry air at altitude and the interruption of regular eating/drinking patterns. Seasoned travelers set their clock to the destination time zone, as soon as it is practical, and join the new rhythm. Exposure to sunlight may be a factor to reset the body's clock.

jetlag is when your body adjusts from the time differences between 2 places you are travelling from, (often from 2 very seperated places e.g aus and us). This makes it hard for you to sleep.

Ideas to prevent boredom on long flights:
Read a book
Watch the Movies
Do Puzzles
Sleep( always works for me=])

Jet lag is simply miserable, is what it is. You don't know whether to be awake or asleep, and it always takes a while to recover your senses.

It doesn't matter. On a flight to Europe from the US, you go up to the Arctic circle, so the sun never quite sets. There are ice islands down there. Even during the day, the sky looks almost black, because you're at the edge of space.

It's impossible to get bored on a flight if you know what's going on. Bring a detailed map and a small magnetic compass, which will work fine on the plane, and chart your progress. Get out a couple of books on airliners and their operation so you'll know what's going on around you. See if you can bring a radio that'll pick up aircraft frequencies, though you'll have to get permission to use it on the airplane. Same thing with a GPS, which is something I want to try someday.

But even without the equipment, any flight is a wondrous thing. There are a couple of books, one entitled something like 'Physics from your airplane seat."

Have fun. Ignore the jet lag. You'll be so excited that you probably won't care.
