Why can't you donate blood if you have had yellow jaundice in the past? |
I had yellow jaundice 20 years ago as a resualt of mono. will I ever be able to donate blood? People who've been jaundiced as a result of infection with hepatitis B or hepatitis C (after the age of 11) can't give blood. It's a virus and can lay dormant for years, then infect others I had jaundice as a baby and I am able to donate blood. Jaundice is only a problem if you've had it recently; make sure you clarify that with the person interviewing you. Here are the Red Cross guidelines: |
