I have jaundice due to an allergic reaction to medication?

what do you reckon about sunbed sessions? Good or bad?

I would definately talk to your doctor about this.

Jaundice indicates that the liver is being damaged, so I would definately speak to a medical professional. I had it recently with some strong medication I was on. As soon as whatevers damaging your liver clears your system, you should go back to normal. If you have had it for a while, I would definately get checked, as it could cause long term damage!

well dont they put babys under them uv lamp thingys? my baby son was slighty jaundice so my midwife told me to keep him infront of the window in his swing to get the uv rays from the son. so i think sunbeds wouldnt do any harm. just dont overdo it!

I think this question should be put directly to your doctor.

Yep sounds like a good start. People will say to avoid it due to cancers etc, but a bit in moderation with an adequate "filter" lotion sold at reputable tanning facilities will help out. Be sure you are taking a multi vitamin as well. Whenever you are not sure, ask your doctor.

what was the medication? Jaundice is caused from too many dead rbc's. the yellow color is from the biliruben from the liver. Are you sure it was a reaction or the medication may have temporarily impaired the liver.

Could i just clarify for some people. Jaundice isn't caused by too many RBC's etc....it doesn't mean the liver is being damaged in all cases.

The liver produces bile, which amongst other things contains broken down old red blood cells. This is perfectly normal. Most of the time, jaundice occurs as the bile ducts become blocked which means the pigment from the bile can not be excreted normally in stools, and so it instead goes into the skin etc...leading to the classic pruritus, dark urine, and pale, clay like offensive smelling stools.

I would ensure i had had medical advise regarding the jaundice, and had its cause properly investigated. As for sunbed sessions, again, that would be best answered by your doctor.
