I got jaundice last month. how many days shud i wait to consume alcohol ? |
my bilirubin was about 5. My age is 22. I am an occational drinker of alcohol. But I'm a smoker. and can smoking cause harm to my liver once again..?? Think of it this way: Pretty much everything that you take into your body has to be processed by your liver. Any impurities that are taken in can have a negative effect on this extremely vital organ, and it's not like you can get another one tomorrow, and, if you did, your body can possibly reject it! You're kind of taking a huge risk if you keep on taxing the liver. One supplement I highly recommend to help you out is milk thistle (if you're taking any drugs for your condition- make sure that this herb wouldn't interact with the prescription check w/your doctor!) About 75 milligrams a day is the maximum that you should take, but this herb is slowly gaining popularity- good stuff Depends on how you got the jaundice. If it is infectious say by viral hepatitis you should probably never drink. If it is say because of blood breakdown (or hemolytic) you may be able to drink once your liver enzymes are normal. well.... i am sure that you know that you should NEVER drink alcohol again.... |
