I got jaundice last month. how many days shud i wait to consume alcohol ?

my bilirubin was about 5. My age is 22. I am an occational drinker of alcohol. But I'm a smoker. and can smoking cause harm to my liver once again..??

Think of it this way: Pretty much everything that you take into your body has to be processed by your liver. Any impurities that are taken in can have a negative effect on this extremely vital organ, and it's not like you can get another one tomorrow, and, if you did, your body can possibly reject it! You're kind of taking a huge risk if you keep on taxing the liver. Depends on how you got the jaundice. If it is infectious say by viral hepatitis you should probably never drink. If it is say because of blood breakdown (or hemolytic) you may be able to drink once your liver enzymes are normal.
In general 2-3 months is ok in these situations, if the offender is removed

well.... i am sure that you know that you should NEVER drink alcohol again....

smoking is not likely to damage the liver, but wouldn't hurt to quit...
