Itching all over?

A few months ago I woke up with the top of my right eye all red and itchy. It would come and go, and sometimes in the morning it would be swollen. A week or so after that started, I began to itch all over, and have large welps. That continued for a long time, then it stopped. Once again, I woke up with my right eye bothering me, and a few days later I began itching again. I'm still itching right now. Sometimes I will notice a little welp with no itching, but for the most part, I itch all over, and big welps form. Nothing is helping at the moment. Does anyone know what this could be from? Is it just allergies? Has it happened to anyone else, and what seemed to help (if anything). I haven't changed soap, or anything like that. And I'm eating what I normally eat. It's 3 in the morning. I woke up itching. Now I can't go back to bed! Please someone help. Doctor said it was allergies...but why then isn't anything helping?

It doesn't only happen at night!! It's just that it keeps me up at night. It happens all day. And it happened before I moved here too, so it's not mites. The doctor said it might be because of seasonal allergies.

You said the doctor diagnosed allergy, but didn't mention to what you are allergic or what you were doing. "the anything" isn't helping doesn't tell what the "anything" is.
Knowing it is allergy is only part of the battle. You need to know to what you are allergic. An allergist or immunologist can do skin testing to determine the trigger. Once you identify the trigger, you can eliminate or avoid it.
Because it is only happening at night, I would first try to rule out dust mites. These are microscopic creatures that feed on dead human skin cells. They are related to spiders and their feces and bodies contain a protein that causes an allergic reaction. Their favorite place in the house is the bedroom, because our bedding is the perfect environment. You can encase your bed in special allergy proof covers, room all the "extra" stuff in the room that tends to catch dust, and either wash your bedding in 140 degree water or use something like De-Mite in the wash. I have been using the De-Mite stuff for years and it does work. Also, the allergists tell you to take the carpets out of the room and to not use draperies. If you use curtains, use something that is easy to take down and wash. If the itching all over the body is bad, you can put some baking soda or Aveeno bath in the water and soak to relieve the itching. Since you are the one with the allergies, get some friends or family members to come over and help you get your bedroom set up. You shouldn't be around when everything is getting stirred up. I am including a link to the De-Mite. You can get Aveeno bath at the CVS Pharmacy

Take a couple Benadryl's. It will stop the itching for sure. Makes some people tired though.

sounds like what 1 of my friends had once scabies that is or could be bed mites

You may have a problem with mites or other tiny insects infesting your mattress and bedding. There are treatment sprays and laundry additives that can kill these little monsters. You may have to use them more than once. If this doesn't work, check with an allergist. But do your homework first. Keep a record of when (date, time of day, season) you have these episodes of itching and also note anything you are exposed to just before or when you begin these episodes that you are not exposed to at other times (eg., flowering plants, perfumes, soaps, a new detergent, a visit from a certain friend, an animal, food). I wonder why just the right eye swells and itches. Do you sleep on your right side?

And if all else fails, get checked for Hodgkin's Lymphoma and for diabetes. Both of these serious diseases often have as a first symptom an unexplained itching.
