Chronic Itching Please Help!!? |
I play 2 sports and for about two years now i have had a horrible chronic itching problem on my scrotum. I have gone to 3 different doctors for this and each doctor I have gone to about 4 times. None of them could find a cure for it. They have all prescribed so many things from powders to creams to steroids to try to calm the itch but nothing has helped. I have tried doing nothing for a week but it was unbearable and even that didn't work. What i do is after the shower i air dry it with a blow drier without the then put on baby powder. This helps but only a little bit and for only a couple of hours. The skin is most of the time very red and irritated looking and sometimes the skin looks like it is very thick. The doctors have told me that this itching problem probably has something to do with my nerve endings that they are too excited and need calmed down. Is there anything i can take orally?? If anyone knows any ideas of what to do to calm down the nerves/ end the itching please help! Your body care products may be causing the irritation. Try switching to natural soaps. Go to a natural store in your area and let one of the helpful people know that you need a soap without synthetic fragrance or any petro-chemicals. You don't have to tell them more than that. Avoid anything citrus, tea tree and rosemary. Look for lavender, chamomile, lemongrass and geranium essential oils. Those would be perfect to calm down your very sensitive genitalia issues. If it won't make you too tired, try a Benadryl or a Claritin. Also, red, itchy skin usually means it needs to be moisturized, so don't apply hot air to it. I'm assuming you've been to both a regular doctor and a dermatologist, so you've probably had any diseases ruled out and have tried all the steroid creams, etc. |
