My casted leg is itching.. any ways to stop it anyone?

The itch is mainly on the heels, i just changed into a cast 3 days ago, had a backslab for a week before that. When i removed the backslab, theres fungus growing inside, lots of em'. The plaster service people who did the cast applied some anti-fungal powder and then did the cast and now its itching again. The itch is making me lose sleep. The reason i'm awake typing this is cuz of the itch. Are there any medication that i can orally administer to stop the itch? since it is a full cast(all the way to my higher part of the thigh from the feet), i cant apply any anti itch cream. And if the fungus gets too serious do i need to remove the cast and seek treatment?
i'm really going crazy cuz of the itch .. help =(

I cant scatch it or apply anything on the itch.. its just beyond reach. the cast covers up the whole of my leg due to tibia and fibula fracture. i need oral pills =(

DO NOT stick anything like a hanger down the cast to scratch your itch. This can impair the skin integrity, then you will have a real problem on your hands. You might want to try an over the counter antihistimine like Benadryl to try and take the edge off the itch. If that doesn't work, call your clinic for suggestions.

Bummer! Call your Dr. and see what they can do. I broke my leg a few years back and just used a hanger to scratch the horrible itches I had, but I got in trouble because I scratched so much they got infected . It truly is maddening and I feel sorry for you.

Other than the hanger, see if you can get some sort of spray prescribed.

Consider calling your doctor. They could prescribe a small amount of hydroxyzine (pills), which not only helps with itch but also sleep. Or, they might have another remedy
