I have vaginal itching, but no infection, do I keep trying different prescriptions?

I've had vaginal itching for 2-3 wks.It itches after wiping or when touched. There's no other symptoms.I went to an urgent care clinic last monday. They didn't find anything, but gave me Flagyl (pill). After finishing the Rx (& using an otc cream,Gynocort), I'm still itching. The clinic suggested I go to the ER.The ER doc said he didn't see anything either but would prescribe a yeast infection cream if I wanted it.The prescription is for a vaginal suppository cream for vaginitis (he called it ABC cream). He said he didn't know what the problem was, & if he had to guess he would say it might be a nerve issue (from a herpes outbreak over the summer),but to take my Valtrex until I can see a gyno, asap, to be sure.We are days away from moving over seas & I don't know when I'll get to see a gyno.Should I use the suppository cream anyway? Will it stop the itching which is on the outside?Should I take the Valtrex? What is best for the external itching that doesn't have fragrance (as vagisil does)?

Well I was able to catch my gyno back home on call. She said that it could simply be dermetitis, outer yeast infection (appearantly yeast can grow on the outside without being inside the vagina), or could be from the herpes (most people experience "tingling" but, the itching could be how i interpet it) She said not to use the cream the ER Doc prescribed. She says only ER docs and GP's use it any more. She said to use an outer yeast infection cream like Monastat since the steriod cream (the otc Gynocort) isn't curing the itch, and it wouldn't hurt to take the Valtrex (for herpes) just incase. She said if the itching goes away in a week, then go see her or another gyno. Thanks all for the responses.

oh yes i have the right answer for you. I have the same thing sometimes, u get icting beucase it may be dry and if u are icthin it alot that was cause it to make it dry and u may get a rash. SO stop thinking about it and it would go away

it could be too much sex

I believe that you should call your gyno and ask them if they can see you asap they shouldn't tell you no. One because if the militry doctor thinks its important then they'll see youso try that first if not just take the cream they gave you and as soon as you get over seas see someone.

try alittle white vinegar in the bath water. NO bubble bath. eat yogurt. wear loose clothing for awhile until you see your doctor. if you itch that bad try the above first. then there are itching creams over the counter. however, sometimes these can throw off the Dr's tests of whats the real problem. don't douche. the white vinegar in the tub water is enough. douching throws off your natural pH balances. i wish you the best

it can be a cystitis or many things, may be you need another antibiotic, you could also use the suppository cream, but is up to you, you really need a good gyno evaluation ASAP, take care

Your comments seem to be conflicting. However, if the itch is internal use the vaginal suppository. If however it's outside then definitely use the anti-viral medication. It would do no harm to use both.
