Pugs itching?

I have a Pug and he itches 24 hours a day. We plan to take him to the vet tommorrow, but does anyone know a remedy to calm his itching? I have never seen an animal itch the way he does. He also spins around on his butt, I don't know what this means, I really don't need stupid answers, so please be serious.

The reason pugs scratch is because they have bad allergy's. I have a 6 year old pug and if I feed her anything besides Iams small and toy she scratches very badly. You should also only bathe a pug once every seven days due to their dry skin. Also mine stays indoors but I do put frontline plus on her, because she goes out to potty and is very allergic to fleas. I also only use malesab shampoo from the vet. And last but not least, The reason the dog is turning circles in the floor i.e. scratching it's butt is because the anal gland needs to be drained, the vet can help with that or a local groomer. Gotta love the pugs.

I'm wondering the same thing about the itching. Our pug will just scratch and scratch. We use the best shampoo and I thought we might be bathing him too much (once a week) but don't think that is the problem. Our pug also scoots on his butt,usually that is a sign of worms but we give him heart/worm rx once a month and have him checked and that isn't the problem. I wish I had an answer for you because it just breaks my heart to see him scratch so much, he scratches at his ears until they are beat red:( It would be nice to know what you found out at the vet. Our vet wanted to do allergy testing, just another way of them making $, Keep me posted.
