Anyone have uncontrollable itching for no reason, mine is on my shoulder?

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone out there has the same exeperiences as me. At times i get this completely unexplained itching on (usually) my right shoulder. It comes from out of nowhere and happens quite frequently. No rashes other then the rawness of itching. I just can't understand it. I have tried everything, itching, rough scratching, hand sanitizers sometimes cool it, ice, heat, slapping, showers with soap, without soap, and then poof it will just go away...leaving the skin hot and raw from itching. Please, is this completely psycho-somatic or sorts or something diagnosable?!

talk to your doctor. it could be that you are allergic to something. Some times when you are you will have itching. most likely a doctor can help.

Probably just dry skin. I get that on my legs sometimes, especially when I am trying to sleep.

thats a wierd question and i didnt need to know that!! ewwww!

atleast its not your ear, finger, or toe

I get itchiness on my Big Toe. But yours sounds extreme and miserable, try soaking it for a long time.

Sometimes I'll get irritated, nervous, or stressed and that will happen on my neck, always on my neck. Thats what may be happening to you, even if you don't realize your feeling these ways, subconsciously it may be going on...

It's a complication!
I do it also but to my arms. I have kept my nails short because my skin looked all red. Uh this is embarrassing to even type.
My Darling Hubby says ,I even itch in my sleep.Bad I know.
I usually do it when nervous, stressed , overwhelmed,or just upset.
I just have my hubby and friends catch me in the act -to stop. Also I am more aware of it now and can tell myself to stop.
It's strange cause it's not a constant thing, just when I'm going through it.
The skin doesn't necessarily itches , but the more I rub or scratch it , it itches more and sometimes burns.
I have to say your not psycho ,cause that would make me psycho !

Well, I take your question seriously since I experience the same thing at times on my hands and feet. I have tried everything. I use lots of lotion, medicated or otherwise. Nothing helps and I scratch sometimes until I bleed. I have even tried taking Benadryl with no results or relief. I don't know what to recommend, the doctors are no help. Guess we suffer in silence.
