Irritable bowel syndrome -what foods to eat?

i may have irritable bowel syndrome. i have the following symptoms: gas, cramping, occasional abdominal pain, fever occasionally, belching, occasional acid indigestion. some cramping leads to going to the bathroom, i cant say whether its just loose stools or actual diarreah. ive been tested for so many things with my doc except stomach xrays. so im thinking of seeing a gastro doctor next week. in the meantime, what foods can i eat with this stuff occuring? ive been eating grilled chicken with teriyaki glaze, chunky brand chicken noodle soup, yogurt, and hot dogs. my doctor gave me librax for my stomach to take up to 3 times a day. i only take once, maybe this is the cause of the still-continuing-cramping? im okay during the day most this stuff occurs at night, or the next morning. my main concern is what to take for lunches while at work. ive been buying hot dogs..dont know if thats such a good idea or not. ive been on liquids for a long time bc i thought this was a stomach flu. i'm 21

Fiber can be helpful because it improves how the intestines work. There are 2 types of fiber: soluble and insoluble. (Soluble means it dissolves in liquid.) Soluble fiber helps both diarrhea and constipation. Insoluble fiber may make diarrhea worse.

Insoluble fiber is in fruits, vegetables, whole grain breads and cereals. Psyllium (a natural vegetable fiber) and oat bran are soluble fibers. You can buy psyllium (some brand names: Fiberall, Metamucil, Perdiem) at the store. Oat bran is in some cereals, bread or muffins. You can also add it to other foods.

Increase the fiber in your diet slowly. Some people feel bloated and have gas if they increase their fiber intake too quickly. Gas and bloating usually improve as you get used to eating more fiber.

not chili.............

dont drink coffee or soft drinks, the caffine will make it worse, as well as the carbonation of the soft drinks. dont eat greasy things like McDonalds and such, and avoid smoking or tobacco use. FIBER is a big thing, apples and lettuce are really good for it. Trust me

sounds like you need a colonoscopy done.

stay with foods high in fiber! oatmeal bars are great!

Irritable bowel syndrome is a disorder of intestinal motility. Since you have been diagnosed as irritable bowel syndrome the best diet would be during the acute episodes of cramping and diarrhea to have high fiber diet especially rice and celeries help. Keep away from meat as you mentioned and spicy foods. Have a cup of yoghurt not milk every day and isphagol husk is very good for good bowel motions. It is a herbal product and is used.

You should try enzymatic therapy's product Peppermint Plus. I have had great results recommending this people with IBS. Elizabeth Lipski's book Digestive Wellness discusses IBS in detail and will give you a lot of other excellent advice including diet tips. You should also look into taking a good probiotic supplement or eat Activia (a yogurt product) on a daily basis.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

I am Jack's Rage. You need to stop your bowel from being so irritable. Try some sounds of the ocean and maybe some baby talk once in a while.
