Is there any cure or help for irritable bowel syndrome? |
I'm not positive I have this but I think I do; I'm going to the doctor soon, but as of now; does anybody know how irritable bowel syndrome is treated; and if those treatments work? I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables; do i need to cut back? Chlorophyll is good for the digestive system. A regular doctor is probably going to give you drugs and more drugs. You have taken the first step in getting some relief from IBS by going to the Doctor. It is treatable, with medication and a change in diet. You Physician will be able to tell you what you should do, and what you can't do. Some research has shown the citrus fruits can exacerbate IBS in the diahrrea predominant type. IBS is linked to stress. I had severe IBS in college for 3 years and lost an embarassing 40 lbs. As soon as I graduated I put the weight back on. IBS is more common in women, but I had a pretty severe case and I'm a man. The MD will test for other causes for the symptoms and when those tests are negative a rulled out diagnosis of IBS will be decided. Try to eliminate stressfull activities in your life and talk about things that bother you to someone you trust. I can't stress this enough, Probiotics. Live ones you get at the Health Food Store. Ask/Tell your Dr. that you want to take this. Take them on an empty stomach, a half an hour before you eat. Speak to a health care professional. See a nutritionist. They can help you. It will take some time. We are working with a few IBS patients at the chiropractors office where I work. They are coming along fine with the Saccromyces Boularrdii that they have been taking.
