Can anyone who knows about irritable bowel syndrome tell me if this sounds like it could be it??? |
It was only mentioned to me today that this sounds like IBS.for quiet some time now ive been having frequent toilet visits.i urinate A LOT and i usually(not always) have a few bowel movements each day.i notice once in awhile i do have trapped wind pains but they usually only last briefly.i did a few weeks back have an episode of pretty bad wind pains for a few days.i know that abdominal pains are characteristic of IBS but is it possible to have it without severe or regular abdominal pains???my stools are usually more runny than solid.i wouldnt imagine any of my symptons are connected to my diet.i have a pretty much fixed diet and i eat pretty well.i do pass wind an awful lot.what i have noticed is that sometimes i will VERY suddenly need to go to the toilet(both 1 and 2).it has become a problem tho and i am quite nervous getting on buses for long trips, etc.anyone recogn it sounds like it??? I know diet makes a vast difference to the symptons of IBS.what i meant was that i dont think that my diet itself would be enough to cause me to have bowel movements like that.which is why i am thinking it could be more IBS is hard to diagnose. Usually, the doctors have to rule everything else out before they can diagnose that. That is because so many more serious illnesses such as colon cancer, bleeding in the intestines can cause this as well. Could be IBS. I've had it for 20 years. However, you're mistaken if you don't think it could be due to diet. While stress usually precipitates and exacerbates it, diet plays a huge part in it. Many people with IBS find there are foods they are sensitive to and that these cause symptoms. For me it's wheat and gluten. While I don't have celiac, I have found that by eliminating those foods from my diet have completely controlled the gas, bloating, spasms, cramps, etc that I'd lived with for years. I had to go to the gastroenterologist to see if I had an allergy to wheat or if there was something else wrong with me. After they ran ALL of the tests, they reasoned that it was IBS with diarrhea instead of constipation. I get the pain and bloating at times depending on what I eat, and then there are times when the food goes right through me within 10 minutes after eating, especially rich foods like Alfredo. Yummy - tastes so good, but be close to the bathroom. If Imodium AD doesn't work on you, then you need to see the doctor, have the tests run, and they will put you on something stronger. I found out that my spasms are worse when I am in a stress filled environment so meditation works well as does Valium. :-) |
